Parting out 1986 4 door golf
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:58:14 am »
Locked up bottom end (supposedly). The only thing I want off it are the seat belts tires and the injectors. Manual steering probably non ac. Haven't got to see it yet but let me know what you want and i will make up a list. Per previous owner the ip was rebuilt >5k ago. Head might be useable. I bought this car and its getting dropped at my dad which is 5 hours from me. I didn't want to see it get scrapped I figured people here would want some stuff. Let me know.  ;)

I think so. But, the newer ones had different doors, for both Golf and Jetta, when they stopped using the wing windows and started 1 piece windows.

I may be interested in the interior door panels if they're nice and a black color but it's kind of far to ship them.

I may want the doors, trunk seal, oring and fuel sender. Depends on price, I would probably meet you with them to save shipping.

If factory non-air conditioned, I would be interested in the alternator, connecting/adjusting arms, bracket, and all pivot bolts.

same alternator as a 90A a/c unit.. the bracket is whats different..

i would go for the 90a, rather than the dinky 65a unit..

parts are MUCH HARDER to get for the 65a units..

if bob doesnt have the 65a non a/c alternator, then i do.. the alt, wiring, everything...

ill let him respond first tho, before offering mine up..

89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Looking for the spin fuel filter head for a MK1 Rabbit. Not sure if the 86 uses the same mount on the strut tower setup. shipped to 53143. thanks

It doesn't.

But I may be able to come up with one and if I find it I'll let you know to see if you still need it.

He'd be better off securing the newer style filter holder and convert his earlier Rabbit-style suck-air-prone filter system to the Mk. II simpler system. Just my two centavos.......

"convert his earlier Rabbit-style suck-air-prone filter system to the Mk. II " Does the MK2 have the tubing that is part of the filter?

It looks like this, a can with two hose barbs. I like the MK1 style better because it's much easier to change.

If you're talking about the clear, crimped on piece of plastic tubing that runs from the filter to the injection pump, just replace it with a piece of hose. It's recommended that you have a clear section of tubing (so you can watch your fuel for bubbles) but it's not necessary. In the above pic you can see what I did.
