I used a distributor o-ring (my assumption was that it's the same)  ???

Which one? the one inside the gear is dealer, the one one the pump cover is the same as the IM shaft seal carrier o ring, and the one that seals to the block I think is dealer or the same as the distributer if it worked for the guy above.

Thanks for the replies.

Autohaus has the larger "distributor oil seal".  Looks like the dealer for the inner ring.

Dealer wanted $6 for the vac pump to block o-ring what a rip off! I looked in my box of o-rings and found that the one for the coolant flange on the cyl head fits perfectly.

Followup:

The water flange o-ring fits nicely, on the flange/block area. P/N 037 121 687

The shaft seal from dealer: P/N 068 145 117 B

(The distributor o-ring was too small.)

Seriously, though, if you can find an industrial hardware store in your area, it's worth an occasional trip there. The one near me has a great supply of metric fasteners, miscellaneous hose, rubber parts and o-rings that start at maybe 1/16" diameter up to what have to be several meters in circumference.

Ja, no doubt.

It would be nice to find the shaft seal from a 3rd party. $6 for that little dude is steep, IMO.

As an aside:

I spun the IM shaft CCW with a drill, to pump some oil around. Nice to see the air getting purged out the lifter bores.  It's also kind of surprising how loud the vacuum pump is when you can hear it through the open oil returns in the head: POP POP POP POP...  It seems like a fair amount of oil gets pushed through, while pushing out the vanes.

Bushing was dealer only and NLA.

I should qualify...my dealer said NLA, so they still could be, but for sure custom made or dealer item only.
