Can anyone tell me what valve stem seals to order for my AAZ?
My valve stems mic at 6.98mm and the all the seals I am finding online say they are 8mm.
I'm confused

Also, I am planning on runnng 15 lbs of boost, the head is ported and I have a Giles pump. I will be either running a water to air IC or water/meth injection (engine is in an 82 Vanagon). Should I go with the AARP studs for the AAZ at 180 a set or "standard" bolts like:

I believe the AAZ came with both 7 and 8 depending on the year. They have discontinued one of them IIRC so you may have to improvise.
This was a brand new head (KS).
I have to replace them because I ported the head and removed them during the job. Hard to imagine I can't get seals for a brand new head.
Finding parts for these things can be really frustrating at times.
"edit" OK - I believe I found the seals - the site doesn't list them as specific for an AAZ but they are for an Audi/VW.

What are your thoughts on the AARP studs VS a good set of head bolts for my application? Do you think the studs are too much overkill?
At 15 psi I'd run the stock headbolts. You'd have to blow quite a few HGs to make up the price difference, which I doubt would happen at 15psi
Makes sense. I just wasn't sure after all I've read here about AARP, head torquing procedures, etc. if using the "standard" bolts was OK.
Thanks.
I love replying to myself

Just for the record, it seems that after 96, the stems went from 8mm to 7mm.
Typically when I'm sourcing parts I use 95 Jetta as my source engine (I have no idea what my engine came out of or what year).
As soon as I changed the year to 97, the 7mm seals showed up.
Just thought I'd share that bit.
