cam pulley
« on: February 24, 2006, 01:31:08 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm about to change my timing belt, and there is 1 thing I still doubt about:the torque for the cam pulley..my car is a 1996 golf ,1.9 td,not tdi.
my Haynes says 45 nm,but some say 60 nm.
In case you apply 60 nm, is there someting else you do like using red locktite, degrease contact surface and thread,or do you just put the torque??
And : my plan is this: I mark with tipp.ex my belt and all pulleys, and once my new belt is mounted on I release the pulley bolt, knock the pulley loose and correct if necessary with my timing tool on the cam shaft, I guess there will be a slight deviation due to difference in tooth dimensions between old and new belt. And check still crank and pump with other tool.VW 2064 and 2065

Any remarks or warnings would be appreciated!
