« on: February 24, 2006, 09:51:03 am »
to diesels (I was a heavey equipment mechanic for 4 years) I am new to the 1.9TD.  I am in Toronto (have seen a lot of poeple on this forum in and around the area) and am looking to have my injectors tested. Any good places in the GTA that you guys use and like?
Thanks in advance.

BTW, my car is  a 1994 jetta. Same year and colour as my old golf GTI. Just picked it up on the 22nd. I am going IC huntng today as well.

Check here for haveing you injectors tested.

I agree on getting the crank mod done,so you don't lose the motor when it breaks.Might want to check the turbo too, they are prone to failure.

crank problem. He didnt' know about it though becasue it let go on him and he had $3000 of work done to her. New TDI crank and bearings installed. Motor and tranny mounts done. New timing belt and gears. I just dropped my injectors off at Diesel Industries in Oakville, beautiful huge shop there. $30 to test all four, they have all shims and nozzles to repair.  As for boost, I installed one of the pool pump guages and I am getting about 11-15 PSI. It climbes up to 15 then you hear her drop down to 11 again??? I am not new to turbo's either, I have a Grand National which is my summer toy and am putting about 22PSI into her.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Thanks, I am just about to put in the re-shimmed nozzles.  I read some stuff on Giles, he is in Markham? What does a pump rebuild generally cost? My pump seems to run fine, I tried doing smogs mods.... I removed the click switch on top of pump for earlier boost? I turned in my fuel screw to rev her up but when I went to bring her back down with #7 or #8 screw it didn't bring her down. I don't think the recoill spring was strong enough to pull it back all the way. If I put in a stronger linear spring to pull to idle stop would that work?

not much time to post but you can find more info on giles in the vendor section. AFAIK rebuild+mods on your pump will run $950cdn.
