« on: February 23, 2006, 01:39:03 pm »
I was wondering if any of you have advice for me regarding the soon to be swap of a 1.6td where a 1.6 n/a currently sits. are there any special parts/mods I should concern myself with buying before we get to the garage?
Thanks.

I think the motor mounts need to be swapped from the 81 caddy motor to the 85 jetta motor.  Are you using the same transmission?

transmission will mate to the engine no problem.  The flywheels are all interchangeable also so you can use whichever one you like best.  I am pretty sure you will need to change a couple of engine mounts though the 85 mounts are different than the 81 mounts.
