Toilet Bowl manifold differences?

Having some issues here (as normal...)
Motor came out of a mk2 jetta. Manifolds looked the same, scrapped the other two I had laying about. Car's a mk1 rabbit.
Install the DP today. The clamps interfere with the shift lever (USRT kit) I can't for the life of me figure it out, besides the manifold being offset for a different chassis.
Unless I missed something, I'm about to track down a header and be done with it.

MK1 and MK2 have difference manifolds, and that's what's getting you.
MK2 exits behind cylinder #3, mk1 exits between cylinders 2 and 3

I don't have any experience with the MK1 TD exhaust manifold and didn't know it was any different than the MK2.
I have seen the stock MK1 turbo outpipe, it sets the toilet farther to the right.

It's N/A.
I call it a downpipe...because it kinda is still. For future reference, It's drivers side of passengers side on a car, left and right just don't cut it (UK's excluded.)

This is what I get for having a bunch of random vw parts laying around, it's been four years since this car's been together.

I'm just going to slap a header on it and be done. With this setup I'd be looking at fabbing up a test pipe, as the autotech exhaust I have is cat back, and the cat is long gone. Besides, how many diesels have you heard with a downpipe and decent exhaust?

the header is gonna hit the steering rack unless you buy an EXPENSIVE header..

are you sure your shift linkage is set correctly? I have a missing linkz kit and it doesn't come that close to the block...MK2 but still.

One off a Scirocco or 8v GTI would probably suffice (header)

I had a cheapo header that I picked up with some other parts and ran it for a while on a mkI with no problems. Car had a "short shifter" consisting of a chromed shift lever with extra holes I found at the junkyard. I think a raceland/obx/ebay header should work fine as long as it's made for mkI.

i was speaking of the pace setter headers..
either way tho, if you dont brace the hell out of it, the diesel will just vibrate it to bits..
my header vibrated off the studs a few times on my diesel.. finally made a brace from the block to the collector..
stayed put after that.

Ya can make em sound great, the na's that is..im runnin a 2.25 inch homemade exhaust from the dp back with just a 12 inch long summit glasspack.
total cost,90$...
next hat trick is to remove the stock dp and make it like 2.25 to match the system.
its probably wirth 2.63 hp at 4193 rpms, and as much as 2.81 hp at 5276 rpms by my calculations that my butt dyno has extracted....
Ah who am i kiddin? Any power increase definitely came from the dtm tip
