US to CE2 electrical
« on: March 03, 2013, 06:21:53 am »
Hello,
So im trying to draw up a diagram for my CE2 conversion from the US electrical system. I am looking specifically at the water separator wiring (http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Volkswagen/1987/Golf/WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/6510.pdf). I am trying to figure out how to wire this up to the M connector in the CE2 fusebox. The CE2 (http://www.a2resource.com/electrical/CE2.html) does not mention anything about the ground wire or the YEL/WHT wire that goes into fuse 3. From what I can gather, the BRN/BLK wire goes to M/04 connector. What about the other two aforementioned wires?

Thank You,
Justin

Justin,

Kudos for trying to get your water separator sensor to work. It may save your IP someday. The ground wire just connect it to ground anywhere. The fuse 3 wire is the power for the water sensor which is a 3 terminal solid state device (per stamping on the sensor) and per my Bentely goes to M/5. The remaining wire from the sensor goes to M/4 which is the L terminal on the glow relay. I'll post a pic of the Bentley shortly.

I intend getting my water in fuel warning working also. My water separator has a small crack and lets air and has been removed. I may use a mason jar or something else and make my own separator with my own sensor.

Having a water detection system is good, just not an old timebomb of a detection system. It will strand you at the worst time.

Someone mentioned the Racor setup, I'd suggest checking that out.
