« on: October 29, 2012, 06:43:38 am »
1.9d 1y motor code,it has a really bad start, but when it starts and get running, it will die at any moment, when it gets to 3000rpm for example, and i want to let it coast for a second the engine will drop the rpm and die, then again bad start and the same, at the moment is un-runnable because of this problem.

Any ideas?

Yup, clear fuel supply lines will aid in diagnosis.  Don't forget to get a clear return line, as that will help you know if your injector return lines might be leaking.

Got any noticeably damp spots on your injection pump?

Go along the fuel lines under the vehicle all the way to the tank and make sure that none of the hose clamps have rotted off.

How old is your fuel filter? Have you checked the one in the tank (assuming there is one)?

already olved it, the return line was broken and it sucked air at higher than 2500 rpm, it also made starting really difficult, now i want to delete the non working Air conditioner , what size belt do i need to get?

it is a VW engine, code 1Y, also used in some mk3 VW golf, it has only one v belt and one serp belt and the timing belt, i assume is the same as a AAZ engine, hope it helps a bit.

is the v belt running the water pump or if it breaks only the power steering pump will stop working?

V belt likely runs the power steering and water pump. Where the serp has the alt and ac if so equipped.
