WTB: upper radiator hose for AAZ
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:10:59 am »
Looking for new. I have a 1.9td AAZ and the main hose that comes off the top of the engine has two arms that come off of it. At both arms there are pinhole leaks, so I'd like to get a new one before the old one bursts all the way.
Any idea's of parts warehouses that sell these things? I haven't been able to find one in my searches. Would Giles have something like this?
Any ideas of where to look will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Andrew

I saw Giles' post about having parts, but nothing he listed was close to what I needed. Who knew he was the man for so many things. I'll email him then. Thanks--

Andrew

Engine is in a vanagon.

Hey,
That is a nice website! Thanks for that. I have an email out to Giles, if he can't come up with it I'll go with them for sure.
Is that website stickied somewhere? Seems too nice not to be known...

I wish someone would sticky it.  I use it for everything.  Free shipping over $50 gets me everytime!

Happy ending to over a weeklong search:
http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=933&category_id=110
Upper radiator hose for 1.9td engine in 1983 Vanagon Camper. This one is the one! Hopefully those words, and the find, come in handy for someone in a future search. Kind of pricey, but there's no replacement for having the right thing. It's going to look a little out of place all silicone shiny and slick looking in my engine bay (maybe I should wait 2 months and get a pink one or something  :P), but I'm sure it will get worn in quickly enough.
I'd like to take credit for finding it, but once again all of the credit goes to the man: Giles at Performance Diesel. I owe him at least a case of beer for this one.

Unless somethiing has changed, Brickwerks does not ship to North America, you'll need an intermediary address.

Gee-Bee here makes a full set of silicone hoses for the Vanagon diesel, here's his Samba ad page.

Top quality stuff, and the hoses were produced using a full European T3 turbodiesel hose set.

Alternately, here's a complete used set from Germany;
