What is a decent brand of strut mounts for the mk1 rabbit? Are Moog or Febi any good?

I think some are hit and miss, but every Moog product I have installed on my stuff is still on and going strong. I did pay 50.00 for 1 ball joint for my mk2, but I can tell already it is going to last longer than all the other parts I put on with it.

Thats good news.  I hate replacing parts again and again and again. Second question would be where the heck do I find spring seats for the front and rear? Do I reuse the old ones? My mk2 spring seats rusted something terrible. is this an issue with the mk1's?

There are earlier strut/bearing mounts that last alot longer and can use a replaceable rubber bushing from a Fox.
Tornado red, '91 Golf 4 door, with M-TDI 12mm pump, south bend clutch, VNT-15 turbo, 02A trany
MK4s: 2000 TDI jetta, 2003 TDI wagon, 2000 golf 2.0 gasser.
'84 Rabbit with 1.7TD KY block pistons bored to 80mm, VNT-15
'84 GTI with stock 1.6TD starion intercooler.

Very true, but the early mounts are pretty scarce and get $100+.  Add the cost of the bushings and you're getting up there.  Last summer I sold a good set with stock bushings and new poly; I think I got around $150 shipped.

I've also heard people getting more life from the later style by pumping the bottom full of 3M Window Weld.
