Do all AAZs take a 200mm clutch? I'm considering the Stage 2 from Clutchnet. I'm only planning on changing the injector size to .205 and adding an intercooler. My project is a 1.9 AAZ engine into a 1982 MK1 Caddy. I'm hoping for something close to 100 HP from the stock 75 HP. Is this reasonable?
Yup there are no injector upgrades for the IDI engines, that will do any good at least.. lol I do believe the OP is still caught in the research stage, and has confused his Indirect Injected 1.9 Turbo Diesel for a Direct Injected 1.9, also known as TDI. I have a tuned AAZ with a maxed out pump running a 200mm clutch, and it does fine. There is NO increase in grabbing power between the 190, 200 and 210mm clutches. Only more clutch disk, therefore longer change intervals.
the 210mm disk with a 16v pressure plate DOES GRAB HARDER..all i changed was the pressure plate, and the clutch grabbed way harder..

My mTDI will easily slip a 200mm clutch.
...BTW your Bieber avatar is awesome.-Malone
I have heard it stated that the three sizes of 8v clutch all have the same holding power. Different than tires on a road.
What would be the ideal clutch for an 82 Vanagon camper (fully loaded) with about 120-130 HP AAZ? It has the 6 rib 4 speed from a gasser and the tallest tires I could fit into the wheel wells.I believe my stocker is 200 but it could be 210Fresh IP (Giles brand) and cooled air as well. This will be a daily so I'd rather not jerk my wife's neck - too much anyway Sorry to steal your post Blue Haze Quote from: Blue Haze on October 15, 2012, 01:06:47 pmDo all AAZs take a 200mm clutch?
