1.9TD pump on a 1.6TD

Hey guys,
I've been searching around for a while and seem to be getting mixed answers. I am trying to put a 1.9TD pump on a 1.6TD, and I'm not sure what needs to be done with the delivery valves and lines. I am currently running GTD nozzles in 1.6 injectors and would prefer to keep them as they were just pop tested. I do have a set of 1.9 injectors though. Can I just swap the delivery valves from the 1.6TD pump into the 1.9TD pump and adjust the injector lines to fit or do the delivery valves need to match the cam plate?
Just trying to get a definite answer here,
Luke

I did this on one of my own cars and the 1.9 pump worked really well. I used the 1.6 injectors, lines and delivery valves. You have to use the 1.9 sprocket on the 1.9 pump for everything to line up. I did try and use the 1.9 injectors but they were taller and the lines had to be bent a bit to fit. I didn't really notice a difference with the different injectors. I also had to use the bracket on the back of the pump from the 1.6. I loved the way it ran with the 1.9 pump. It fueled way more especially in the higher rpms.

OK, now to get the 1.9 pump to fit did you mill the pump bracket larger to accommodate the bigger diameter 1.9 pump nose? I've heard some of the early 1.9 pumps had the same nose style as the 1.6.
Many thanks,
Luke

I used the early style pump which fit right into the 1.6 pump bracket. I just milled a 1.9 bracket for a landy pump that has the same nose as a later 1.9 pump so either way works.

I am pretty sure it is only 97-99 AAZ engines that got the larger snout, as I have not seen any earlier ones than that with a large 68mm snout.

Did you find the engine ran more quiet with the 1.9 inj.? I thought i read some where that the 1.9 injectors ran quieter because they were 2 stage injectors or something like that. Read it a while back. Not as much combustion knock noise.

My full aaz engine is just as loud as my full 1.6td.. I think that info must be bogus.

think that was an ATTEMPT to quiet down the engine..
dont think it worked tho..
most shops arent even hardly equipped to calibrate dual break nozzles anymore anyways..

I didn't notice a change in noise. 2 stage injection makes a big difference on direct injected engines but doesn't seem to do much on the idi's. The timing was on the advanced side as well so that might have cancelled any effect the 2 stage injectors might of had.
