I have brand new coil overs and new strut bushings and bearings do you have to compress the spring to get proper torque on the new bearing/bushing. I read 44ft lbs in my manual.

the spring should be contained on the coil-over just like on a strut..
there is a nut that holds the spring and retainer on place, and then another nut, that holds the strut bearing to the shaft, and it is ABOVE all the rest of the other stuff..
you are over thinking this.. just install the strut bearings, and torque it down.. it wont matter if the spring is compressed, or tensioned..
Yep way over thinking it. Thank you. Figured it out last night. Helps looking at it before im half way through a case of beer. This forum rocks. Cant wait to get pics up of the mini build.
Yeah ran into a snag. I lost ALL of the engine to transmission bolts. I'm waiting tell i get everything done and then posting it on here. I'm doing a pretty involved lift pump set up using a relay and the fuel soilinoid so when i find/order/steel the bolts i need I will post it up put it up here. Couldn't have done it with out this forum.
