Am i asking for problems by running this clutch disk?

just pulled this clutch disk out of my 85 GTI that i wrecked..
it has a crack all the way across the width of the lining, on one friction surface.

is it unwise to run this disk? i was oblivious to the crack before i took it out. looks like its been cracked for a while. i had installed this clutch (brand new) into the car about 5-8k miles before i wrecked the car.
figure i would just run it by you guys, and see what you have to say about it!
(i was going to install this on my td, along with a 16v PP, and a gasser flywheel, until i opened it up and had a big crack staring me in the face)

Personally I wouldn't risk running it, I'd throw it in the scrap pile and order new, but u seem to work much faster than I do, and I'd rather do the job once and be done than to take a chance at having to do it again. Maybe u won't mind swapping discs if that one blows. I bet itd probably be fine and u wouldn't have an issue tho.

ill just leave the near-new 200mm clutch in there then, and upgrade later.. im still gonna swap trannies..
ive had an AUG in this thing for as long as its been diesel..
doing an ACN swap (100mm converted ACN out of my wrecked GTI) right before Pacific Waterlands..

I wouldn't just in case it came apart. Probably wouldn't happen to anyone but me, so you maybe fine.
But you can get a new sachs disc for 44.00 so I would just go that route.

If it is a 200mm you can run a 200mm solid disk from an older beetle.

no 16v setup is 200mm..
the crap on it now is 200mm tho, but its all basically brand new. maybe 15k miles on it..
i just wanted the 210mm 16v setup.. ill just look around, and find a new clutch disk, and put it in next time i have it split apart..

well, the cracked 210mm is officially installed in my TD, along with the 12# gasser flywheel, and the 16v pressure plate..
the clutch that was attached to my engine, was the root of all my problems! the center of it was all messed up.. the center hub had roughly 1/8th inch of radial play..
springs were in great shape, but the center hub that rides on the springs, and operates them to dampen the vibrations, well, that thing was worn in a really weird way.. its like it was just made out of mild steel, and not hardened at all.. all the metal around it ate into it, and wore it away..
and it was surprisingly worn out (friction surfaces) as well.. couldnt have had more than 30-40k miles on it (thought it had like 15k miles)
anyways, the center hub had a TON of play in it (thats what was chattering, and making me believe that my transmission was shot) and the friction surfaces were almost worn to the rivets..
i didnt have any options besides close my eyes and use the clutch with the crack in one friction surface.. but i really doubt it will come back to bite me any time soon. i dont plan on running that clutch very long anyways.. as long as it holds together long enough for me to come up with another clutch disk, thats all i care!
i was actually getting ready to button everything back up last night, and was greasing the splines in the clutch, when i realized that there was WAY TOO MUCH axial play in the clutch hub. then i pulled the flywheel, and the friction surfaces were both about toast as well..
my options were:
1.) use a known working clutch setup, with a crack in the lining, that had likely been there quite some time, and wasnt affecting operation (YET)
OR>
2.) use a clutch that has slipped since the day i got the car, and that now has parts with very accelerated wear, and almost no friction material left!
im just going to hope for the best, and take it easy on this clutch..
BTW.. its FRIGGEN SWEET to have my ACN back in my diesel!
my diesel likes it much better as well! and it still pulls/accelerates up hills in 5th gear as well, just gotta give it a little more loud pedal..
i stand by what ive always said.. the ACN style (acn, aon, acl, asf) transmixers are one of the best factory 020 boxes available!
(the good thing about my old clutch being the issue, is that i still have an AUG trans that is in GREAT shape.. that trans doesnt even have 100k miles on it yet.. was hoping it wasnt dead yet. it sounded JUST LIKE the the cluster bearings were going out!)

what advantage would this have? I just replaced a clutch but haven't driven the car yet. the clutch I took out had 4 springs the new one has 4 springs then 4 more small springs inside the big ones? do extra springs give it more grip? Does no springs give it even more grip?

un-sprung clutches are grabby..
they are supposed to handle more power, because there is nothing to rattle apart..
the solid center clutch would hav been alot better for me..
for a low performance applicaton, i would not use an un-sprung clutch.. they do not behave like a sprung clutch..

Well, 400 miles on the CRACKED clutch, and it works like its not even cracked..
drove it to Pacific watrlands, and back, and all around, and it worked great..
and HOT DAMN, a tall 5th gear is the SHIZZNIT!! i can cruise @ 80mph on the freeway now without feeling like my engine is pissed off..

how does your ACN not do the same as mine?
i used to cruise 3000 revs @ 60mph
now i do 3000 revs @ 75 mph..
.75 5th gear, and 3.67 gears..
how does an ACN feel closer than the closest close ratio trans VW ever made?!
the 4K 5th gear is barely overdrive.. 3.94 gears and a .89 5th..
you must have an ACN case with some other kind of guts in it.. cause my ACN feels MUCH LONGER than my AUG, even taking off shifting @ 2k rpms..
the ACN feels NOTHING like the close ratio transmixer i took out of there.. its a TOTALLY different animal..

Oh its exactly the same.. I just have a ko3... So i literally am boostimg at idle, and thus makes every gear only last 800 rpm..

yea, i dont suffer that problem..
my GT20 doesnt even think of boosting at idle..
i held a K03 this weekend, first time ever, and they are FUGGIN TINY..
only thing i would run a K03 on, is a lawn mower or go cart..
i can pull till where my governor would be, and still not run out of boost or gears..

disk has been performing beautifully since i did the clutch/trans swap..
i really dont think that crack in the lining is a HUGE deal..
if it were on a 16v, an SR20DETT, or a honda B16B (any engine capable of revving to the moon and back) then i would have never even considered running it..
but being that i can only turn it 6000 revs (and i know for a fact that this thing saw 7000 revs a few times, the last time i drove it in the GTI) im really not that worried about the crack..
i imagine the crack happened the night i wrecked the car.. i did LOTS of burn outs.. basically every time i stopped, i burned out..
dont drink and drive kids...
