Repaired Cruise control
« on: September 18, 2012, 03:19:18 pm »
My cruise control would kick off intermittently. The connecting push rod was worn and would pop off the ball joints on the throttle linkage at the fuel pump.

I looked for a new one. Giles has them in stock apparently.

Ended up fixing mine with some 2mm thick steel wire, an old bicycle spoke. I made a couple of clips to help hold the link onto the balls. I tried it on a 400 mile trip and it worked for now.

I fixed mine by pushing a piece of wire, smaller gauge than yours, into the groove around the outside of the cup.  Now it is so tight it is hard to get on and off.
