Can someone verify if this is correct? If the last 6 digit of the VIN is lower than or equal to 176338, the engine has 11 mm head bolts, higher than or equal to 176339, engine has 12 mm head bolts. Mine has 12 if true.
I checked the valve clearance and got the following:
#1 in= .008 ex=.014
#2 in=.008 ex=.015
#3 in=.008 ex=.014
#4 in=.006 ex=.014
Some of these are on the high end of spec. Should I adjust with new shims or am I safe running it as is?
Who knows if the engine in a 30 year old car is original? Pull the valve cover and check the headbolts, hopefully you have 12mm bolts and the PO didn't decide to run triple square 11mm gasser bolts right?
