You'll smoke more and you'll lose almost 20 horsepower.

Why on earth would you want to remove your intercooler??

You'll have less power and higher consumption, and you'll also stress the engine more.

i just gotta ask...

WHY?!
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Sorry, but just like everyone is saying - your engine really likes cool air - very much.
Mine wanted it but I didn't listen so piston #4 melted itself all over the barrel  ;D

If your's has a leak - it's worth fixing or replacing it. That's the only reason I can think of that would bring you to removing it.

it makes a BIG difference on my car to have the intercooler hooked up, and my engine flows much better than a stock mk2 TD..

deleting the intercooler WILL NOT allow you to have the same power.. like Andrew said, you will likely lose upwards of 20hp from removing it, as well as losing some fuel economy..
