In English, Spaltsaugrohr, means - 'Gap Suction Pipe' as provided by 'free translation'.
thats obviously a great help ! I think i'll go and ask my local VW parts man for a Gap suction pipe, i'll assure him its on ETKA somewhere !

so, maybe its correctly translated but if you can't find pictures in google while searching for that word, it can't be correct

It is hard to tell from the picture what is going on there, but I'll take a stab at it...
If there is a valve between the two plenums that opens and closes, it sounds like a "variable intake manifold" (or sometimes just called "variable intake") that could be more specifically referred to as a "resonance intake system":

If it's something else, can you explain more about how it works?

these intakes were used at WRC cars. the two plenums are seperated by a little gap. the boosted air gets into the tapered plenum and flows through that little gap into the second and larger plenum. from there it goes into each intake runner.
i found a few pics which may show it a little bit more precisely

these intakes were used to guarantee that each cylinder gets exact the same volume of air. maybe not toooooo interesting on a diesel, but very important on a FI gasser

Hmmm... interesting photo. I remember seeing a bit about these style intakes from a guy who restored an original Audi rally car (James_Bufkin) Here's what he says...
"The primary lower plenum with connects to the throttlebody is gradually tapered like a cone with a continuous single vent slot that allows gas to pass into the 2nd plenum. The 2nd plenum acts as a collector which then feeds the runners to the head. Pressure in the 2nd plenum is equallized since its not effected by gas velocity and inertia or the pressure variation from front to back of the 1st plenum. Since flow equals velocity times area. The reduction in flow which is released through the side slot is equal to the reduction in area of the plenum assuming velocity is constant. So a smooth conical taper with establish equal pressure and air distribution into the 2nd plenum."
There are a bunch of pics and some nice looking fab work on the older Audi rally cars at his site...
