Pretty sure it's a TDI on tdiclub, but I could be mistaken.

It's a swap I've thought of doing many times...

why use such a SH!**Y car to start with tho?

they are cheap throw away cars..

just swap the drivetrain to a new shell every few years?

disposable car?

Funny thing is I scooped up a first gen saturn wagon for $200 bucks a few weeks ago and have been thinking about the same thing...

why use such a SH!**Y car to start with tho?

Pending on what neck of the woods you are in, shells are not all that easy to come by.. It seems that MK1 and 2 VW's gas or diesel are grabbing at least a grand with a good body and not necessarily running..

I'm feeling the same way... A Saturn? What turd polishing... Saturns have been the least comfortable cars I've ever been in. And my VW isn't all that comfortable. But they were designed with user maintenance in mind, and I'm not convinced that my VW was. And I was honestly kind of sad to see them go. It amazed me that GM was never able to profit from a product line that was popular, at least around here, where practically nobody buys "domestic" cars. And I need to start exporting rust-free shells if they're fetching that much.

I probably logged at least 150000 miles in mine over 6 years. never broke down bad except when I blew a headgasket close to home being a dumbass. always got great mileage. they were reletively inexpensive to maintain. boring to drive though for sure. great highway cars .

My friend's dad used to work at Saturn so it's all he drove. I always liked the cars. Sure they aren't anything special but if a gasser can get that kind of mileage, it really makes me wonder what a diesel would get in there.

Why do you guys hate on Saturn for being a throw-away car? Do you think our beloved Volkswagen's were designed for anything more? LOL.

Germans design their disposable cars better than Americans.

My mom had a saturn for a while, it was ok and got decent mileage for a v6.

I put over 200k of absolute abuse on a dodge neon before I got rear-ended. Those things handle very well stock and will pretty much spank any saturn or cavalier. The interior and paint do leave much to be desired though e
