need a intercooler
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:27:43 pm »
but I have A/C.  anyone have a working setup?  I am thinking of making a GTD like setup if I can find a good sized IC from a different car/truck.

what about moving the battery to the trunk and using that area?

i dont like cutting holes in VW hoods, so if i cant front mount it, i wont run it..

im running a Starion intercooler in my diesel..

toyota Mr2 intercoolers, ford probe intercoolers, saab blackstone intercoolers, and a few other ones as well, all fit very easily in front of a VW radiator..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

any reason? Mine is very efficient, I have a fan constantly pulling sucks anything in its path in at a stop light. I re-framed the hood, so its just as ridged as OEM

there is still a hole in your hood.. nothing changes that.

i PERSONALLY dont like top mounts.. the air is coming at the car from the front, so install it in the path of air flow, is my thoughts..

i dont like the look of hood scoops on VWs.. they dont look right.

plus, youve got a fan too.. that takes power, and adds complexity, and something to go wrong..

my front mount just works.. plus, i dont have to remove it to service my car.

ahh I see your perspective.

I had a front mount originally, but lack of size available with the a/c made the top mount a must. Do you have a/c? I thought about taking it out and sticking with a front mount, but having a/c on an AAZ swap is icing on the cake IMO!

I have a few temp sensors handy, I should take some readings and see where I am at under there
