I am looking for the alternator/ power steering pump brackets for a 4000 or Quantum diesel. Right now the alternator sits where the IP will go.

I've seen a few n/a Audi 4ks in the junkyard here. I haven't seen a Dasher in decades. Is this part desirable to a lot of people? I'll pull next time I see one if it is.

The Vanagon and mk1/mk2 Rabbit/Golf/Jetta do not share ANY brackets or pulleys (actually PS pulley might be the same...) with the Quantum/Audi 1.6TD belt drive system. IIRC, the Quantum TD mounts the A/C pump and alternator on the manifold side of the engine. Injection pump, water pump and power steering go on the injector side of the engine. I have all the parts for at least one complete 1.6TD Quantum belt drive system with accessories minus the split water pump pulley.

The A/C pump is on the manifold side, so it looks like there would not be enough room for the alternator there. What I probably need id a photo of one to compare it with.

Would you be willing to sell the alternator/AC brackets?

Yes, I'd be willing to sell the parts. Here's a picture of a friend's car:

By the manifold, in front of the air inlet tube you can see the alternator poking out. If you need more pics of the mounting, I can get them, but it might take a couple days.

Thanks. That is where the A/C pump is on mine (IIRC). Does yours have A/C? If so, a pic of that bracket would be most helpful.

A/C is mounted right below the alt. IIRC they share the same bracketry. I don't have a picture off hand (friend's car). I can get more pics but it might take a couple days.

It's really hard to get decent pictures due to the radiator fans and intercooler pipes being in the way. Here's the best I could do:

The A/C crank pulley is a split design with adjustment shims. The alt has a slot adjustment under it.

Thanks. That is exactly what I need. The A/C compressor is now where the alternator needs to go. What would you take for your extra set?
