I want the big box gone. When I did my WVO system I used two FPHE on the engine coolant lines. First heater is for splitting the heat needed for the fuel tank. Got to get it warm enough to flow. So I have a small pump on that heater that moves coolant through the tank and once the sensor gets to 85 F it turns the pump off.
I put that exchanger right above the shift mechanism on a lip of the body with some fabricated hangers. The four lines going to that area are nearly touching the engine and even though they are insulated to keep heat in and exhaust heat out I put a deflector plate in there as well. All of that going on behind the engine needs to have eyeballs on it. I can't do that easily with the current big box setup. So install your skinny intake and I get a bonus besides line of sight.
I get a larger intake out front. I have tried to fabricate a 3 inch hose to the front of the big box and have just not done that well. I will be able to hose off the intake to a series of adapters and get to a 4 inch opening at the front of the car or an oval better yet that would attach to that dummy plastic piece on the other side of the radiator down low.
I know by this point half you guys are pounding on the keys, screaming turbo you duffass. But remember I have crap in the way and it can't take the kitchen heat. Let alone a honking turbo. We will see, perhaps in a few months when I get run off the road because of some hot shot Honda head I will be looking for a spool job. For now I will just do the cheap ram air with a filter.
That is what I plan to do with it. I will let you know how it comes out.

dude, dale.. you are going to CHOKE your n/a running a TD intake.. they are RESTRICTIVE AS ALL HELL..
the stock n/a air box breathes WAY BETTER than the TD manifold (with no boost) would ever dream of flowing..
you are gonna go backwards dude..
WAY BACKWARDS.. i bet you feel the power difference.

He secretly wants to turbo. He just hasn't figured it out yet.
