We are in the middle of swapping a 1.9 out of a quantum into my buddies 86 jetta that had a 1.6 td in it. The housing off the 1.9 was kicked to the side to work in the quantum that puts the motor in front to back. We planned on putting the oil filter housing off the 1.6 onto the 1.9 but where it bolts to the block is different. Does anyone know what will work on the 1.9 and where to get one. just curious if theres one off a gas motor that will work that i can find at a junk yard or if i need one from a 1.9 out of a golf or jetta?

IIRC there was something about a "restrictor" in the gasser mounts that the diesel didn't have...something like that. Look into it before just bolting on for sure, might be nothing, might be something.

My first AAZ had no restrictor. The second had a restrictor. Go figure. I'll get a picture of it in a bit.

Can't find it, sorry. It's basically a grub screw with a hole through the centre. It limits the supply of oil to the turbo.

how? doesnt the AAZ get oil to its turbo just like a regular 1.6? i know they have block DRAINs, but i wasnt aware of a block FEED line as well..
the oil fed to the turbo comes STRAIGHT off the main oil filter flange.. from how i understand it, that restrictor feeds something in the block. the turbo oil feed comes of the filter flange BEFORE the restrictor..
the bottom hole on the block/filter flange is the inlet. the upper hole in the block/flange is the outlet. that other small hole that the grub screw restrictor feeds, idk..

Well we installed the 2.0 oil filter housing on the 1.9 and it fits the block fine. We moved the oil pressure sensor down to one of the unused bungs and had to get an adapter to put the feed line in at the top where it was on the 1.6 with no restrictor
