Info wanted on this EBAY turbo upgrade for n/a motors
« on: June 08, 2012, 01:52:32 am »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-1-6-Diesel-Add-Turbocharger-Turbo-Manifolds-Downpipe-/330744797053?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d01ed177d&vxp=mtr

im interested in getting this setup. however. i dont want the intake manifold and the seller wont sell the kit without it.

what im really interested in, is finding the part number to the exhaust manifold.

however, it might just be worth it for me to buy the whole thing and then try and sell the intake manifold. what do you think i could sell it for?

Here's a link to the same manifold.
http://www.hansautoparts.com/028253033QManifold.aspx

I have the exact same kit. Ran it for about 25,000 miles and switched to a bigger turbo.
Prothe sells cheap chinese parts (not high quality), but I never had any problems so I can't complain for the price.

I wouldn't touch it. Prothe is infamous for a reason, and its not his high quality parts and customer service. There is a reason its cheap...

avoid buying that turbo kit. its not even a 1.6 intake manifold. the D port manifold DOES NOT match up with the O ports on the head..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I wouldn't buy a lug nut from that guy. He does not want to hook you up with a deal and make sure that you get a quality product. It is beyond inexpensive, it is cheap.

there must be ALOT of FU**ING STUPID people on this planet, because he claims to have made sold 1 million dollars worth of parts, to 12,000 SATISFIED customers..

boy, what a bold faced lie..

BBB accredited business? maybe 1 of his 45+ domains is registered with the BBB, and doesnt have an F rating yet..

99.2% positive feed back? damn.. people must not know the difference between chinese junk and good parts anymore..

only thing i would buy from him, is the Right Way Industrial pistons he re-sells.. Isuzu and Ford of Europe both use that company as OEM, so idk why we cant..

ive heard of quite a few people running his pistons without issues..

i was thinking about just getting the exh manifold and a used k03 or k03s (gas) since they are a dime a dozen and good quality. not sure 100% if the flange will match up

K03 diesel and K03 gas are 100% different. they even take different manifolds..

the flange on the diesel turbo is 180* off from the gasser flange. i believe the bolt hole spacing is also very wrong..

so, no, your not going to be buying a gasser turbo and bolting it to a TDI manifold, unless you build an adapter..

i wouldnt use a gasser turbo anyways.. they will spool differently than an appropriate diesel turbo.

they make K03 turbos in gas and diesel versions..

but the K03S (sport) is a gas-only version..

The ARCO's, for the AAZ, right?  Gonna use them myself.  But yes everything else from Prothe avoid like an STD.

Probably any ko3 will work on a diesel if I remember the compressor maps weren't too awful for our cars they'd work best on an aaz tho I'd say

I guess he has a good rating on ebay because he sells a ton of random non mechanical parts & interior pieces that I am sure tend to last well. I have heard nothing but grief from people who have bought turbos and injection pumps from him, though.

The only bad things I have heard were about his pumps.  I mean I have heard bad things about the quality of his parts but they're dirt cheap so it's not like he is tricking anyone into buying junk

I bought some of his door handles once as well...they lasted about 3 months. When I say lasted, they physically were still in place, but they did not open a door. I bought a similar set of door handles from autohaus and they are still on the car. His 6.00 handle vs the 20.00 handle loses in the cheap catagory when you factor time.

Jess has a stance that I am taking and that is if he knowingly will produce junk IP, timing betls, piston rings, and such that can kill peoples cars I am not going to buy from him. I am sure there are always exceptions, but I will try not to support him just so he cannot have the money to invest in more junk that could possilbly get worse.

You guys can do what you want, I am just sharing how I feel about it. I think all people should be warned before buying if they can be, but ultimately it is the persons choice on what they buy for their car. I would have liked to have had that when I started buying parts from him years ago.
