just watched the video. If you have messed with the pump tops the lever is probably off a spline. Reguardless, that didn't look like black smoke. It looked whitish grey, like unburnt fuel. The main fuel screw needs turned in and the idel set correctly with that screw. Neither maybe possible with that "throttle arm" not being in the correct spot.

Also, it maybe over heating as the water pump belt is about to fall off. Get the cam belt cover on as well.

I've tightened the belt several times, the setup sucks, need to get a different bracket, cover is not on because ive take the timing belt off so many times.  That video is of the pump that has not been apart, but doing the same thing as the pump i just resealed, not saying it was done correctly either.  It is gray smoke out the pipe(yes unburnt diesel), not black if I said that sorry. So I guess I need to try to remove the throttle arm and move it backward a spline? or forward.  When I got the pump thats on there I had to screw the idle screw out about 1" or more, so that means I need to move it back?

I also notice there were three lines on the throttle arm, the splines were lined up with one of those lines, what do the other lines mean?

What about #80 in the link below

Is there adjustment to that?  I havent messed with it, but it would seem that if th goveror shaft it out too far or in too far it would cause a problem.

Don't touch #80.

I don't know where you need to put things for sure. It is kind of trial and error. If anything I would screw the main fuel screw out so it doesn't run away on you at startup when you make these changes. Make sure you know what the idle, main fuel, and WOT screws are before messing around with them. The splines are there so you know where the shaft is in relationship to them.

What piston protrusion did the head gasket call for and did you run that HG or did you just put in a 3 notch?
