Timing belt tensioner pulley for 1994 AAZ
« on: May 28, 2012, 03:19:21 pm »
So I began the Belt replacement on my AAZ. I removed the tensioner to install the new on and the new one has a smaller diameter hole for the stud to go through. I checked the box and it says it will work on 95 and up AAZ's. Are the 1994's different? Hopefully someone knows, because I sure don't. And actually the pulley is a bit different in design. Thanks for any help.

They are indeed different. It's been a while since I worked on one but I'm pretty sure (90% or so) that the early AAZ uses the same tensioner as the 1.6

They do indeed! But often a cylinder head will come with two studs for both variations. It's just a difference in the stud. Rather odd that they made a change in the first place. Perhaps it is to do with an improved variation of the tensioner.
