Just wondering if I'm going to have a meltdown. When I put the new diesel engine into the GTI, I used the complete stock exhaust system, from the exhaust manifold back. The original gas engine had a catalytic converter, so it's still in there. I've been thinking eventually I should hollow it out just to make sure it doesn't get plugged and impede the exhaust flow, but in the mean time, what do you think might happen? I've driven about 50 miles so far, with no ill effects I can see (running 100% biodiesel, so it doesn't have any sulfer going through it yet).
