Hi all,
I'm looking for a fun DEISEL car for my GF... cabrio, scirocco, corrado... anyone tired of thiers project and want to give a good home?
thanks,
Steve
Ya, I think this has been for sale off and on all winter on Craiglist.
Flipped out alternator.....what the?

24 bids? Man, I gotta start selling off some of my crap.......................
WTF!
how can that alternator even work?!?!
That alternator is very disturbing.
I also got a kick out of the comment:
"it is the original paint and has NO RUST anywhere!" and then the closeup picture of the diesel badge with the bubbling rust under it, LOL.

And:
"The tach is not working either which would work with a new sensor installed."
Ha ha...
Yup talked with seller... I'll pass on that... Forgo other reason than my GF doesn't want to cum mute in a vert ( messes up her hair)

Anyone have or know of a 'rock or corrado with a diesel? )( missed the 84 scirocco locally in MD... He said it would only do about 60 mph... Wonder what he did for gearing?)
Anyone done this swap? Any issues? Sounds pretty straight forward...
Thanks,
Steve
hmm, never thought about it, I wonder how the timing on the brushes would be affected? but in theory, the diodes take half the wave and push it as pos and the other half as neg. so in theory, even if not pushing full amperage, it should still charge.
I swapped a 1.6td from a mk2 Jetta into my Scirocco.
It was fairly straight forward. I am new to diesels and had no ideas on how to do this so I dove in anyway. The A1 chassis mounts are different than the mk2....I retained the IP bracket and cut up a stock Scirocco motor mount and welded them together.
I used the ign. coil wire for the fuel solenoid and did a button with a "pimp your glow plugs" Ford solenoind. I kept the Jetta tranny for stock gearing.
I had to make my own down pipe with a part of the Jetta, a flex pipe and part of the Scirocco...it works ok, gets great fuel economy and is still a very fun car to drive.
