Will a KKK Bv50 work on a 1.9 M-tdi?

Hi!
I´m about to buy a nearly unused KKK Bv50. The seller wants $150 for it, but I´m not sure it will spool up ok on my engine.
It came from a Audi 3.0 Tdi.
Whats your opinion? Will it work? I run a 12mm IP head and the engine works great now with a T3, but has some lag.

The bv50 I think is very similar to the gtb2260 in size iirc. If that's the case then it won't be an issue. It should spool up faster than the t3 and way more efficient in the top end. You won't regret it. Just make sure your nozzles are big enough. Bosio race 520's would be my choice but if money is an issue, try the .216 nozzles from veg injection. The quality is great for the price and they are actually bigger than .216.

I ended up installing a brand new GT18V instead. I run the vanes fully opened up right now but it stills spools quicker than the T3 but maxes out at 1.8 bar (26 psi) Still with lots of black smoke and the fuel screw set very low
So next project will be a 2256 from an Audi or a 2556 from a BMW X5 3.0D. Should have more top end power.
Also installing a FMIC in the near future.

Why wouldn't you run a vane control before doing another turbo swap? You would be able to get faster spooling along with an efficient higher max boost.

coming from someone who ran open vanes for a VERY long time, it is WORTH it to control your vanes.
i just installed a GTB2056V on my 1.6D, and it spools as fast as a stock turbo with the vanes hooked up.

you gotta close the vanes down a bit to get more boost..
but closing the vanes cuts the efficiency of the turbo..
26psi out of a GT18v is probably at about the top end of its efficiency spectrum anyways..
you need to either hook up a wastegate can up to operate your vanes, or go with a full manual control..
heres something else to look at:
my vnt20 (considerably bigger than your 18) absolutely WILL NOT SPOOL without the vanes operating. if the vanes are stuck open, the turbo will NOT boost.
but, with the vanes operational, it spools QUICK, and makes good boost till the wastegate can opens the vanes.

Ok. I will build a controller with cables and a wastegate can etc in the near future.
I think with a 12 mm head I have enought exhaust/heat to spool even a VNT20 with vanes almost fully open. But I´ll try a controller first
and the go for a bigger vnt.

using a VNT20 myself, and have a thread on how to operate the vanes using throttle position and boost, you're welcome to use it
I suspect we'll have similar engine setups. oh and i love your truck dude!

I have a Snow Performance system, not installed yet.
How long does it take you to run through a tank of fluid?

A devils own system, with a 5 gph nozzle. Starts injecton at 0.9 bar boost pressure. My tank holds almost 2 gallons. The system only inject when I´m hard on the go pedal. Not during normal freeway cruising and town driving. So the fluid holds up pretty good.

Nice. I'm thinking about a tiny (0.5gph) nozzle pre-turbo, then a 4 or 5 at the manifold. I'll be getting my nozzles and mounts from Devil's... I got the pump and computer used on Ebay.

Why a nozzle pre-turbo? They only produce alot of moisture in the intercooler. Especially if you have highly placed inlet/outlets on the IC.

Use N75 solenoid based actuators
Live configuration via USB interface and graphical map editor (no special software needed)
Two VNT control modes:
* Duty Cycle map - Uses RPM/TPS info to set VNT actuator position. Additional dampening can be added to improve engine response. No map sensor needed for this setup.
* Target Pressure map - Specify requested pressure value on each control point. Vnt-lda will automatically move actuator until required pressure level is reached.
LDA table can be used to fine tune soot emissions and torque limiting on certain RPM-range.
Cheap and free :-)
* RPM Engine speed sensor, use Honeywell GT101DC or alternator W-output as a source.
* TPS Throttle position sensor (like Bosch "001")
* MAP Manifold absolute pressure sensor for detecting amount of boost, for example 4bar Freescale MPX6400
* Arduino AVR-microcontroller board, servos, n75 (or similiar) solenoid & vacuum actuators
