thank you, looks like i'm rebuilding that k03 in my basement =]
So back to the original topic, k03 with a t3 will work very well together. I have a few drives on my k03, k24 build and I'm very happy. Boost builds very quickly and pulls hard as high as the engine wants to rev. I'm running 26 psi but it wants to climb much higher. This setup can run 30 psi all day long.
What are your pump specs oh great one?

That sounds like some good stuff you got going on brotha!

I'm running the ahu pump with electronics, 11mm pump head and camplate from an alh. Smog .216 nozzles with a stage 5 tune from Malone. No lack of fuel that's for sure.
how about a video??? id love to see how it runs, for under 150 hp, like you say it is a good option, but to me if i were doing all the work id want the t3 to be the small turbo and something bigger as the big turbo like a 60 trim t3 or some type of t4
I plan on doing a video once we're closer to being done. The exhaust is completely done now and we're just wrapping up all the loose ends. Maybe in a week or so for a video. The more I drive the truck the more I like how it feels.
Can't wait to see pics or a video.
how about a compound setup with a VNT (HP) & wastgate turbo (LP)
see my sig for a cheap stand alone VNT controller
+1 for pics
As soon as we get a chance we'll do a video. We have over 1000 km now on the truck and everything is working really well. We had two issues that Malone pointed out to us after sending him some logs. First off, we weren't getting enough advance out of the pump. Actual advance started dropping off compared to requested advance after 3200 rpm. Turns out the collar that holds the piston in the relief valve had worked itself out which is apparently quite common on these pumps. Malone suggested performing the Keystone mod to prevent this from happening again.
The second problem was the boost was slow to build up to the 26 psi limit we had set. Turns out the k03 wastegate was opening too soon. We weren't hitting max boost until 2800 rpm. Now max boost is closer to 2200 rpm. So after these two issues were addressed, smoke levels are down to a light haze at WOT and the power comes on way sooner.
I've said it before, these turbos work very well together and give a very wide power band. You can easily boost up to 30 psi from 2500-4500 without running either turbo out of there efficiency range.
I got a k14/hx30 that works pretty good. Boost is around 30 to 35 psi. Spools well down low and alright up top. max egts are around 1200 to 1400. Also using water injection and that makes a huge difference. I can feel it when it turns on. Big boost in power.
The k14 is a little small for the hx30. It limits the boost coming out of the hx. I can push the hx to 35-40 and only get 32 at the manifold. The k14 compressor housing is just to small. Also I am not really compounding on the top end as my wastegate is fully open at 20psi. I should post up a video of it someday.
