Injection pump.
« on: February 12, 2006, 06:50:37 am »
Hi guys,

when I accelerate my gas pedal sort of hesitates coming back.I found out that it's the injection pump, the little ax doesn't rotate freely anymore,it isn't really blocked, but it moves very difficultly, especially when I start.Until now it doesn't leak yet. It has 320 k km though...
Is this announcing the definite failure,or does it need a cleaning?
My golf is a 1.9 TD (AAZ-engine ).
And are there rebuild kits? I found some for a 1.6 but not for 1.9 pump .

Thanks in advance!!

yea,,its gettin a little dried out+crusty,,shoot it with some penetrating oil,all the return springs are "frozen",and need a little "help",,use wd40 or liquid wrench,or even drip some motor oil on it,and work the throttle back and forth by hand ,,,,,,but just wipe off the excess oil, so it wont attract excess dirt,,,ive had this happen to me,,ive never seen the shaft start to get "frozen" in the pump,or anything,,try it,,,,,
Throttle cables ftw

Guess it won't hurt..oil is probably best as wd 40 tends to dry out, I' ve seen this on the butterfly valves in carburettors. Is yours a 1.6 or 1.9 ?
Anyone knows if there are kits for pumps for AAZ engine 1.9 TD ?
Thanks
