imo a waste of a few minutes of my life watching that! and a sadness of watching such a nice clean looking vehicle DIE. I woulda traded my 89 golf that has rust issues that would not have affected the appearance at all with a simple paint job, but will remain damaged metal on my rig nomatter how much bondo I use

I'd like to put his head in a vise and slowly straighten out my leg on the handle.

That car isn't perfect, but in no way would I want to destroy it. I pieced together my jetta and welded new floors in just because they aren't available around here. If I want a good one like what this guy trashed I would have to pay almost what a used TDI is going for. Plus I kind of have a sort of pride in what I like in these old VW's. I couldn't see scrapping one like that in a million years. You guys in Canada must have more stuff than you know what to do with. Next time you scrap an MK2 that looks like that, please stop and put it in the for sale section. Some of us down south would buy it a piece at a time to get it across.

yup... sad to say i'm guilty of it too... 2X mk3's and a mk2. that's the way of things up north-EH.
in my own defense tho... i am building an 87 Fox

Just out of curiosity, IS there any way to get a whole car across the border into the U.S. without major hassle?

Not if it's at least 25 years old, then it's no problem at all. Newer than '86, you need to have it officially imported by a bonded importer $$$.

isnt there some replacement deal where if you go on vacation up there and your car breaks down you can replace it?
so basically you get a CHEAP junker, drive up there and MAKE it break down?
