best place to find some is prolly an audi, unless you wanna buy new..

audis almost always had alloy wheels, and there longer wheel bolts to accommodate them..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

actually he seeks lugs from 85-99.5 4x100 vw.. 81/84 alloy... on mk1.. became the common lug in 85..

mk1 rocco is way longer so not those..

rabbit ones are real short for their steel wheels.. they can be used with snow flakes on the REAR but not up front... rotor thickness is why not up front..

the lug bolts for my 83 CGT were the same threads, but longer, than the rabbit lug bolts..

So, does anyone know the correct length? I see some used ones on ebay but not sure how long I need.

AhausAZ or similar will probably have the wheel bolts new.
Around $1 each

All Mk2's i've worked on have the longer wheel bolts.
About half inch longer than standard Mk1  +/-
Even if stock steel wheels on them. (Mk2)
So there is the best used source - Mk2 and Mk3 at Jyards.

I've found some good deals on eBay in the past on new center caps.

Believe i bought the set of bolt covers i have from Mk1autohaus on eBay.
But have never used them. Just been painting the bolt heads so far.
I swap wheels around from time to time.
If you have new tires and then verify they are balanced well - then you could install the bolt covers. They are usually a big hassle to remove - without damages to them.

The "shorties" Mk1 - are 38mm - 1 and 1/2 inches
head to toe.

After while i can go out and measure a Mk2 bolt.

The longer ones are 45mm (appx 1 and 3/4 ") head to toe.
Threaded area is 24mm on these.

On shorties - threaded area is 19-20mm.

AhausAz does have them (longs) new - $1.88 each
They don't service the shorties anymore.
All Mk1 and Mk2 listings only offer 12mmx24mm (longs).
Free shipping on $50 order
Add on a couple/few filters or sumpn - if you go that route.

Didn't check RockAuto yet

i myself, prefer studs, but some wheels have such small lug holes, that you need a bolt with a narrow head just to work with them..

Mercedes bolts from "bundt cake" alloys might work.  I think the head shape is a bit different, but I probably have some mixed up and in use on my Rabbit pickup
'91 Jetta 1.6 NA, '82 Caddy 1.6NA, '81 Cabriolet,  4 Mercedes OM616/617s , 2 Triumphs and a Citroen DS19 in a pear tree.
