quiz time
« on: February 28, 2012, 11:14:20 pm »

Thought this might be fun, but easy for the veterans. (I'm a newbie with a manaul)

I had a bad leak around the oil pan of my 82 rabbit diesel. What do you think I found when I pulled the pan?

Flange bent around bolt holes from over-tightening.
And a half eaten p.butter bacon onion sammich.

or the cold start seal leaking and washing down oily grime.
and they had mashed half of a p.butter bacon onion sammich up in there to slow it off a bit.

You win! but without the cardboard. Just sealant. It had broken loose and filled up the pickup tube. luckily there was enough room in the pickup tube to still get oil but boy will I have a happy motor now. I took the pump out and cleaned it up good. Checked backlash per manual and the pump is in great shape.
I did notice that this engine has probably been gone through before though. One bearing is VW and the other is Brazil.
As far as sandwiches, they where good! I like peanut butter. Elvis and Jimmy got away. There was a six pack of Bud and it got gone to ;D

More home brew fixes that we try and then note the failure there of.  Swear we won't do it again and sell the car to someone like you.  Good that all is well.

Good gravy does everybody do that or do I just see all the ones that are done like that?

And for the record next time offer Jimmy and Elvis about 500 cheeseburgers; it will at least keep Elvis interested.

There is a secret group of VW owners in the VA area that have sworn to use gobs of RTV in place of real gaskets.  Sorry man, just your luck.

I only know of the procedure as a last minute, crap the gasket is all ripped, and I don't have a new one just yet.
Oh, and I am late for my date with that real cute girl across town.  Had to experiment as Mark calls it.
