Replaced lower control arm now way out of alignment???
« on: February 26, 2012, 11:46:43 am »
Hi all,

on my 1999 mk3 jetta, today i replaced my drivers side lower control arm due to a worn bushing and when i put it all back together, the drivers side wheel is about a 1/2 turn of the steering wheel out of alignment with the passenger side wheel. ( the wheels are now pigeon toed!! )
new control arm is the same as the old one ( dimensions, angles, all the holes line up ) and everything checks out just fine on the passenger side. I am kinda stumped now and would like to figure this out, any suggestions?

thanks

ball joint bolts are egg shaped.. they allow LOTS of adjustment.. try that first.
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

thanks for the help ROR, but while the alignment is closer, it's not quite enough... But just enough that i should be able to back off the tie rod to make it work.
