anyone have any experience filling up at truck town in milton?
i've filled many times there before, but out of the blue one day, the girl hands me a receipt with more litres on it than i pumped. i always watch the meter to see how many litres, the receipt was about 2 or 3 litres more. go out to the pump and sure enough the pump MATCHES the receipt.

so i figure it must have been my mistake, go back next week, same thing happens! week after that, same thing. so i tell the girl and she says she'll have management look into it. its like in the time between filling and walking inside, somehow they jack up the litres.

so i go back a couple weeks later, and now, amazingly, my rabbit's tank holds 9 litres more than it ever could before! ...i always go right up the filler neck, and this time i didn't.... still 9 litres more. :?

i'd kind of like to find out wtf they are doing down there......

Need to call government 'Weights & Measures' and have them checked out for accuracy.

Leave a running camcorder in your car, pointed at the display on the pump. Stop pumping. Walk in. When the higher liters occur, tell them about it. If they don't try to correct it, send the video to your local television station. Actually, do so anyway.

they stopped padding it while i walk from the pump into the store ever since i mentioned it.

now, it just seems that 1 litre charged is more like .8 litres in the tank.

i can't remember the exact amount of litres... but the last time i went back there i pumped about 9 litres more than i ever have before (and i run it dry often :lol: ) and this time i didn't take the time to fill up the neck and let foam settle.... normally i do.

i should call someone and get them checked out i guess...

Ok so curiousity got the better of me & I searched a bit more, no joy.
I'm still sure this is a federal matter, but I can't find anything to run with.
I called the local OPP, the guy I got transferred to was less than helpful :roll:
I asked who I call for fuel pump verification, if I suspect a station of padding pumps. I mentioned the area but not the station.
He suggested the BBB :?:
I asked about weights & measures, federal, blah blah, so he suggested I call Halton region @ 905-878-5511 (that covers Milton right?) OPP and ask them.

Ok had another thought...it happens sometimes

Just called a friend of mine that used to be in the fuel business. He couldn't remember the name of the regulating agency, but he said check the sticker on the pump, either at that station or elsewhere around there.
You know the round one that certifies he pump is accurate, and has been tested recently and calibrated for temperature.
It should have a 1-800 # on it.
Give them a call.

I won't need fuel for another two weeks or I'd have a look for ya :wink:

i used to pass that station twice weekly...but that has changed so i pass it infrequently now. the next time i'm through, if i have time, i'll go get the # from the sticker. i have a friend whos dad works there i'm waiting to hear back from him about this as well...

thanks for checking into it macgyver... whenever i see passenger vehicles there, they are always VWs... so i'd like to get this straightened out even if i don't frequent that station any longer.

I hope this overcharging scam is not true.
I just got a diesel and had planned to use this place as it's in my commute route.
The regulating agency is "Weights and Measures" a department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs.

hi eugene. i filled up solely at truck town for a good 6 months. after this experience i no longer fill there at all. take that for what its worth. if you plan to use that station, get weights and measures on them.

Resurrecting an old thread as I've been using this place lately.

The pumps post no prices. You don't know what they charge until you go to pay. They add GST to the purchase price. Final charges end up to be slightly more than regular stations.

This place is set up to serve large commercial users with accounts.
It's not cost effective for VW owners.

That being said, there are benefits for me.
They are VERY convienent for my commute and schedule.
They sell high quality fuel and are equiped with hi-flow nozzles.
Best of all, they have a super hot female cashier.

this isn't what bothers me, what bothers me is that the pump will tell me i just filled 49 litres (we're not talking currency here, but volume of fuel) and that won't physically fit into my car. truck town has some kind of scam going on.

i didn't find their fuel to be higher quality than say sunoco. their high flow pumps are nice but hardly worth being bent over for.

so you go there with a container which is pre measured to hold only a certain volume, say 2 litres or 5 litres. next fill that container according to the pump's numbers. when x ammount of litres are pumped, note if it matches up with the containers fill mark.

this is all that weights and measures would be doing anyways. they only do a quick check of the pumps. if a problem is found they investigate more.

thanks master acid, that's what i had planned to do had i kept going there. there are plenty of diesel stations around, i don't need to go to one that i know is ripping people off.

I work for a company that makes fuel dispensing equipment. I can promise you that if you turn in the station to Canadian Weights&Measures and they visit the site based on the complaint they will check more volumes than 1 and 5ltrs.

I have personally reverse-engineered fraudulent firmware designed to be accurate at 1 and 5 (or Gal. what ever the increment) increments and cheat the customer at all others.
