« on: January 22, 2012, 11:57:02 pm »
ok so heres the deal guys, i have sold my car, but just before i turn it over to the kid it wont run properly. so my problem is..... i changed injectors on this car to brand new bosh injectors. car was in cold for a while it would run 10 secs and die over and over, so i change fuel filter not the problem, change main lines directly under hood not problem. *side not run return and primary line to a jerry can of diesel it will run no problem and for ever*  so i checked the water seperator last night unscrewed that lid thing nothing came out or dripped out was in -8 weather all night and day, left in a warm shop over night checked again this am and bam water came out about 1.5L worth, did it till diesel was comin out let it run a while kid took it for a test drive was great, i drove it home after that, go in eat dinner come out 2-3 hrs later and its as iff the system lost prime it cranked and cranked till it got fuel again and bam it runs great and was runin out side almost an hr while i shoveld the drive way so what yall think what to do... im stumped agin like i said it ran fine from a jerry can return and feed in there never hickuped could a leaky return line alowing air in do this? i got new lines but its possible ones sucking air correct?  i need to fix this by tomorrow night as kid takes it come lunch tuesday and i really need to sell this car badly thanks in advance fellas

My car is doing the same thing with a leaky IP. Does it loose prime as soon as you shut it off or only after sitting for awhile?

sounds like the everloving air leak after breaking lines free trouble.  I would go back over all the lines and refresh the copper washers and make sure they are sealing up correctly.  Sand with 400 grit paper and oil then heat them.

so i belive its just an air leak in the return, i dont have one of them fancy caps for the one end of the injector that goes no where so i took a piece of  return line and screwwed a screw in it and yea it was leaking diesel there and i could see bubbles goin by it after i shut the engine off, so now question where do i find a plug for that.

Yeah its not under that much pressure.  A good piece of hose with some kind of stopper in it will work just fine.

jpedro if you have a local WorldPac parts retailer/distributor
they keep those in stock for about $1 each.

Any VW or Mercedes dealership should have them in stock too.

I always keep about 4-5 on hand at all times.

BB in a piece of inj return hose will get it across the curb for sure.
Maybe even put 2 in there. lol

Or if you just find a piece of rubber I'm sure you could gouge out a little bit and shove it on. I had to reuse mine off my other head, and it broke half way down.. so I just drill out a little deeper and it seals with half a plug.

I was out of return caps, so I shoved a piece of ground down framing nail into a piece of jumper hose.  Been there for nearly a year and no leaks... I got some caps about a week after, but I figured why bother pulling it.
