I have horrible radio reception and stock MK4 antenae. Anyone else similar? Are there upgrades to be had.

It is connnected at the radio well. How to you check at the antennae? I guess I am wondering how much work is involved.

You have to drop the head liner to get at the nut that holds the antenna down. It's common for the base to corrode to hell to the point of the antenna not working anymore.

Great!
Do I have to run new wire or just new connectors or just new antenae? I haven't had a radio in 6 years in my daily cars, now that I do I want it to work. I used to be into car audio crazy, but not the normal BOOOM BOOM BOOOM of the crap you hear at gas stations...I wanted the cleanest sounding loud audio experience in a car. I now just want it clean

You'll have to run a new wire. It's a pain in the ass, but it's all one piece all the way to the stereo.
