New Member here,

Just stopping by to say hello, first diesel let alone a TDI!

Hopefully I can learn a lot about the diesels and the TDI's, will try to help out when I can.  Still too new to offer advise.

take any gasser knowledge you have, and throw it away.. diesels are 100% different.

lol..

welcome aboard!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Thank you for the nice welcome, much appreciated.

I have to agree about throwing out any gasser similarities, I've been using a lot of the forums to try to track down an issue and havent had much luck, guess I'm special.

It seems like the engine gets louder the more it's driven, can't tell if it's exhaust, drivetrain, engine noise or ?  I do get a real low "rumble" thats almost too low to hear but you hear something.  Kinda like the kids that have the bass, just lower.  It really shows itself when the car, DSG equipped, is slowing down and the RPM's get real low until the DSG disengages.  Then it quiets down, until I start driving again and then again when it downshifts.

Really hard to try to explain, I'm sure I'll get it figured out someday soon.  Or go deaf trying to figure it out!!!

Thanks again,
SteveG

Not all Gasser knowledge goes out with the diesel.  Basics of engine still apply R.O.R.  like your message says, fuel in, magic happens and we move forward.

Most of the changes I have come across is the IP, (Injection Pump Steve) the delivery is to fuel injectors that are still similar to gassers.  The timing routine is the big bugga boo with our particular brand of engine.  What other engine needs lock plates and bolts just to time it.  Oh, and about that timing light, put it away as well cause we do a mechanical measurement instead using a dial gauge stuck in the rear of the IP.

So welcome, read, use the search function first, in fact did you read the FAQ stuff.  Rule of the month seems to be if you can't comment nicely don't hit the post button.

i said GASSER KNOWLEDGE.. not general principals of engine operation.. all 4 cycle engines operate off the same principals..

most gasser knowledge is 100% opposite from diesels..

I would look at DSG Flywheel failure, sounds like the flywheel is starting to vibrate under power

most gasser knowledge is 100% opposite from diesels  R.O.R.  I believe you have just set up a new term for when the IP is 180 out.  It would be gassered or did you gasser your pump?
