6'2" and i drive an 84 with 91 height adjustable seats. its perfect.
I feel that the mk3 is the best handling I felt. Front and rear swaybar on a TDI.

my car has better suspension than a mk3, and is a lighter car..
mk2 and mk3 have almost IDENTICAL suspension.
Well I can safely say that the best combination is a Mk2 with Mk3 control arms and rear beam from a mk3 Jetta with built in sway bar, no front sway bar. What a blast.
I did mine last April. With LEATHER DYE and it is still black, and when clean, shiny. Its cheap, super easy to use, and if ya get too vigorous scrubbing off a *&@&@#%ing love bug, right after I do the wheels, just a little touch up dab and she is golden. No big production with tape and masking and overspray so on.
Mind you, I live in Central Florida, super hot, super humid. As you can see from this video two weeks ago, it holds up.

I honestly dont care what he uses, I cant wait to see that ride with gleamin trim work.
I do lust your car as well though, nice work meng. Most would see it blasphemous to dismantle such a pristine GTI and slap a TDI in it, but I applaud it.

i call his car "the best car VW never built"..
came up with that as soon as i picked my jaw up off the floor, after seeing it the first time..
out of all the cars on the forum, your GTDI is tied with RedRotors Golf Country, as my favorite cars.. i really love your ride dude.

I had done the leather dye trick before but didn't have the best results so when I came upon this bumper/trim spray it was a revelation...Then I came across a thread about restoring black trim with a heat gun...That might just be the easiest technique, just not sure how well it will work after painting the parts...
Thank you for the applause for my GTDI, it was far from pristine when I began!

Thank you! Every time I drive it I get giddy as hell, It is so much fun! That is the beauty of swapping in a suitable engine, one that doesn't depart from the original too much, unlike the ubiquitous VR6 swaps out there
yep.. your car still maintains its original (AWESOME) handling characteristics with a TDI under the hood. they cant be more than about 20-30 pounds different from the original 8v engine..

Exactly, the IP, 02A transaxle and turbo/intercooler and piping would add the most significant amount.
