MTDI Alternative Donor Pumps

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the use of a mechanical IDI pump that is already equipped with a 10/11mm head, then just swapping a DI camplate in?

For reference, i'm looking at the Zexel (Bosch copy) pumps used on Japanese diesels in the 90s http://www.vepump.cn/CZZ.htm
