Intermediate shaft -- OK to turn if timing belt is off?

Is it OK to turn the intermediate shaft when the timing belt is off?

I want to turn the oil pump to get oil pressure up without having to remove the vacuum pump. I'm assuming this OK.

gonna have to spin it awful fast to prime the pump.. i would remove the vacuum pump and prime it with a cut up gasser dizzy AKA oil pump primer..

if you do prime the oil pump from the IM shaft, DO NOT USE AN IMPACT GUN TO TURN IT. use a drill, or something that is not gonna hammer the bearings and drive gears..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I almost assume because he is asking about turning the pulley that he must have the belt off.. I mean who would willingly remove the belt for such an easy task? right. lol

Thanks everyone!

Yes, the timing belt is currently off. Dropping it into my 81 pickup soon. I thought it would be easier to turn from the pulley as I won't have to fabricate an adapter for the vacuum/oil pump side.

Yeah you are good to spin it. The vac pump would have to be in for the oil pump to turn. Make sure no junk is able to get into the vac pump where it is producing vaccuum. The only deal is IIRC you would have to spin it CCW to make oil pressure. Make sure to not loosen it, or retorque before final assembly.
