Well, after amassing too many Audi diesels I want to sell the whole lot. Here's what I have:
1) 1983 Audi 5000 Turbo Diesel. White, 45,000 miles on the body. It was sitting in a shed since the early 1990's with a disassembled engine. I pulled the engine and put in a rebuilt engine from car #2. New tires on nice stock 14", perfect interior, working sunroof, 2 good batteries. Water-pump is starting to make noise. New WP is $35. New timing belt included.
This is a beautiful 2-owner car. I still have the original window sticker. Pics on request.
2)1980 Audi 5000 S Diesel. White. Around 225,000 miles on the body. Engine was removed to put in car #1, but I have another good engine, see below. 15" Saab wheels, good 5 speed manual transmission + clutch assembly.
3)1983 Audi 5000 Turbo Diesel Parts car. Silver. Engine was pulled and is listed below, I have no idea if the trans is good or not.
Besides the complete, working engine in car #1, I have the following engines which were pulled:
1) Complete engine. I bought this about three weeks ago. This was a crate engine from Germany with 25-30,000 miles on it but the transmission went out and the engine was pulled and stored in a shed for around five years. Slight surface rust on some parts, but I was assured that this was still a good engine. Oil looks good, needs an IP belt. Good head
2) Engine pulled from car #3. The seller told me that it was a bad head gasket, but I wouldn't hesitate to say that the head is cracked as is so common with these cars. There was coolant in the oil. Seized turbo. Outside parts are good though, including the Injection Pump. These parts would look good on engine #1.
3)Original Disassembled engine from car #1. The head is off and cracked. Pistons are rusted to cyl. walls, but other parts are perfect including: rebuilt Injection pump, exhaust and intake manifolds, good K24 turbo, oil cooler.
I have a bunch of other misc. parts including two new head gaskets, two service manuals, a new steering rack, 2 more sets of stock 14" rims, lots of misc. electrical parts, extra starters and alternators (one good, the rest need rebuilding, but do have W terminals), AC pumps, radiators, etc.
I would like to get rid of all of this at once. I'm starting at USD $5,000, but make me an offer. I would also be up for trades including any good-condition early 90's Audi 20v Turbo (especially UrS4), early VW tdi, or good example Audi A4 1.8t Avant.
I'm located near Sioux Falls, South Dakota and I can try to help arrange shipping, but I'm not very knowledgeable in the area. I can get pictures of everything in two weeks or so when I return home.
Thank you!

Wow, the 5-cyl TD bug bit you HARD! I'm interested to see the pictures of the first car and the crate engine. Of the engines you have for sale, how many are DEs, and how many are CNs?
Any of this fit in my jetta? This 5 cylinder engine?
Don't think so, they are huge and mount the wrong way. Mileage is much worse than your average.
I'm pretty sure all but the crate engine are DE's; I haven't looked at the crate engine very closely yet. I can check when I get back to take pictures.
I would also assume that the engine from car #2 that is now in #1 is also a CN?

not even close..
these only fit in the big VWs..

The engine from car #2 was not the original. The guy I bought it from took out the original NA diesel and stuck in a TD from the 1983 model. I'm pretty sure it's a DE.

pretty sure all the TD engines were DE code..
and all the n/a's were CN.
i could be wrong, but thats what ive noticed, thru all the ones that ive seen..
my 83 5kTD has a DE in it.. factory.
bump for zombie apocalypse proofness!!!
Would you have an electric sunroof motor, wiring, switch and panel? And can you ship it?
Cheers
I do, but the sunroof is in the good car, not either of the cars that could be used for parts. Also, I would like to get rid of this all at once and not mess with parting it out, and if I don't I will just keep everything and have enough parts to keep my car going for the next 30 years
As far as our engines of this era go, there is an "Audi" bellhousing pattern and a "VW" bellhousing pattern. The Audi inline engines were different from the VW transverse ones. The Volvos with the VW diesel used the Audi pattern, as did those VW vans sold in Europe with the 6 cylinder diesel.

Volvo also used them under the name D20.
