how to wire this alternator?

got a deal on a vw bora tdi 120amp but have some doubts on to wire it to my aaz passat

at the back there is a plug with L and DFM or something similar to that.


i know i get to open it and make a W wire but what about those 2 terminals?

i have a 1.6 tacho that at the moments its reading high,and being the pulley on the alternator different(think its bigger than the aaz alternator) maybe it will read higher ou will it read lower?
 i want to keep the clucthed pulley.

The 2-contact plug is your W and D+, just have to figure out which is which... I have the same question, I have a TDI alternator also.
I found this pic; it's an earlier plug but should still apply to ours; the steel clip will be the top of the plug.



I had a plug laying around that fit, from the foglights on my '04 Passat... the D-shape connectors are found on  newer VWs, so you may need to go to a scrapyard to find a wreck.




So your W pin  *should* be the one on the bottom, the flat part of the plug as we see it in the picture, that'll drive the tacho, the other is D+ and gets connected to the alternator light.

but i thought that those engines picked up the signal from other sensors ???

thats what i would be leaning towards.. getting a signal from other sensors..
