11MM ARP studs for my old 1.6?
« on: November 20, 2011, 07:23:11 pm »
Plan to make it a TD

Are these the right studs?

ARP 1.5 8 valve head stud set  12 pt nuts with under cut studs 11mm thread 204-4701 $119.99

http://headbolts.com/Volkswagon-Audi-diesel-fasteners.html

Will a stock fibre gasket hold up well to 20psi? Or do I need an AAZ?

im running stock gasser stretch bolts, stock fiber head gasket, stock n/a block and head, all with a VNT bolted to it, pushing out over 20psi..

havent had one spec of trouble from it. its usually 30+psi that the fiber gaskets dont like..

dont see any reason why you would NEED an aaz head, unless you want to lower your compression, and run more boost than the factory compression allows.

and i wouldnt use undercut fasteners if i were gonna use studs..

86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I have a new fibre gasket gasket here, guess ill run that.

Should I order studs or just go with the non-stretch bolts that the 11mm block came with? I'd need a new set, as these are ROUGH. Wish ARP sold proper bolts for this car.

It says 1.5l on the site, they gonna work on my 1.6?

ARP # 204-4701 Ordered via http://lightningmotorsports.com

Total came out to JUST under $100 WITH shipping.

Site seems a bit shady, but google reviews turned up a lot of positive reviews. Mostly about arp stuff on the cheap.
