No can do R.O.R.  Now that the rain has moved in the sucker is stuck like glue.  Just kidding,  I know you hate this idea but it is doing it's job.  I have tested the wind coming over the top of this arrangement and can say that it does throw the heavy stream of air I used to get in the middle of the windshield to the top.  My washers finally work without going all vapor on me now.

I looked at the lines where it might rub but see no effect of wear as of yet.  I will pop it off when washing the car just to be sure and keep the fine dirt out as well.

And the wheels?  You were the one that said I needed to dump the black rims and get serious wheels on it.  I thought the bigger tires and wheels look better than the 13 inch stockers.

arent those still 13" wheels tho?

i was never a big fan of snow flake wheels, so i dont have much to say about them.. for me, snow flakes, and stock steelies are in about the same category..

V8 is correct on size and weight,  Shed the 13 inch for a set of 185 60R 14's  not much change on speedo.  2% is the difference I think.  I use GPS for my speed any way so tire size only changes odometer reading for the winter.  2 miles per 100 is not that much of a change.

mileage will go down. the narrow tires get better mileage.. i just went from 155/80/13 tires to 185/60/14's and my mileage went down. i went from stock VW steelies, to my Enkei 92's (extremely light) and my mileage still went down because of the increased width..

and as for my quote about the snowflakes.. i mean i just dont like them. i think there one of the ugliest stock wheels VW ever produced. i dont care how light they are, they are soo ugly to me that i group them in the same category as steelies. im aware they are still alloys, and fairly light, but they are still down right butt ugly.. i actually like stock rabbit steelies just a bit better than snow flakes.

this is only one mans opinion tho, most people adore snow flakes, i despise them.

i have an awesome set of center caps for snow flake wheels if you need any.. got 5 center caps, and all of them have the tabs intact.

send em.  I have holes to plug.

See PM.

I found the mileage to be disappointing on the last two tanks.  Because I did switch from 155 R50 13 to the wide ride.  Car vibrates much more on the rough sections of road.  They are about 1.5 inches or so wider, and that is costing me about 4 MPG so far.

Bought them used and on the way home Weds blew a front tire in Salem so ran home and back without a spare.  Lost my brake booster and had a loose wiper arm along the way.  Not a good trip home but ran it back to Portland and it got me 44 MPG on the Salem to Salem diesel.  Might be the best I can do with the wind, rain, and winter fuel.

I think steelies and Snowflakes are both cool. I've been trying to find a great set of Snowflakes for my truck, but I'm going to polish them. 8)

Your Snows look great, what did you use to polish them?  Mine could use a bit of shining in the spring.

DC to bad your not located in Oregon.  Set of 4 snows for 75 bucks, second of two sets and the man may be willing to take less to be done with them.

I thought R.O.R. had a set at one time.  I tried to get them my way but we didn't connect on it.  I was wondering if the local hardware would have a decent cap that would go in that hole.  They have a huge selection of silver and black plastic caps.  I noticed in the pic of my car the rear axle cap it silver and it looked pretty good.  So I might try and see what I come up with.
