clutch problem

I was driving today and noticed some inconsistencies in the clutch that I had not noticed prior to today. The pedal would stick, jump and grind a little until it hit the floor. I thought perfect... the cable snapped.
I wish!
The cable appears to still be attached but now the arm on my mk2 transmission I can actuate with my hand...
Has the pushrod broken? Come out of place?
Where should I look?
I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel when I rebuilt the aaz I swapped the 1.6 for. Is it possible to separate the tranny from the block and take a look without a hoist? I am visiting friends and family and i start a new job on Monday the 14th so this is very time sensitive. I am willing to pay a shop to fix this promptly unless its something simple I have over looked.
All feedback appreciated.

I'd bet on the little arm (finger?) inside the transmission that's on the other end of the shaft that the clutch cable attaches too. It pushes on the throwout bearing to push the push rod.... Clear as mud? they're bad for splitting. If you've got another trans around, unbolt the whole end cover (casting with the big green cap) and swap the whole thing. Fastest/easiest way to fix it. About 6 bolts after you remove trans mount from the top. Have a look at the brokevw site, should be some pics.

I don't have a spare trans... I think I have one of those bearing things though?
http://www.brokevw.com/TO.htmlI have a green cap replacement and a TO bearing at home 300km away. Is it possible to do this with the trans in the car?

had a few different trannies snap the actuator finger.. i just fixed one recently. its easy. pop the green cap out and look at the finger, it usually cracks on the INSIDE of the bore, where you wont be able to see it..
anyways, its more than likely a broken finger, but, if its not that, then its maybe a drilled pressure plate or something like that.

So the finger bearing and pushrod were fine. So I split the trans and block apart.
Remember that very expensive clutch and pressure plate I got from bildon motorsports less than 2 years ago?
The springs wore their way free and jammed the pressureplate in addition to violently destroying the springs of the plate.
Very unimpressed. Been a long evening but I had some incredible help.
RadoTD came to the rescue and between him and a buddy of mine I was in town to see we had it all apart in an hour or two.
I've never had so many lights in the garage before or had my car jacked as high as it was but it made for a painless job of removal.
My pushrod has 1/4 inch of wear on it from what I can tell with my tape so I'm hoping to get a complete clutch kit with PP, clutch disk, pushrod and that plate the pushrod presses. I already changed the TO bearing and the finger in there looked perfect. Was very happy to return the $40 replacement I has purchased incase it was the culprit.

RadoTD came to the rescue once again! (i had written a reply but I guess it never showed up)
My friend and I loosened everything off and when RadoTD came over it was a simple matter of two of us pulling it out and the third keeping things clear out of the way.
The springs in the clutch from bildonmotorsports wore free and jammed the pressureplate. I got a new set up for $260 after taxes and was driving by the afternoon.
Drove to big white fine (had to tighten shift linkage twice).
Very appreciative of guy plain's offer! Really generous.
Also got a pushrod with half as much wear from RadoTD.
Now Im just having problems coldstarting through the filter. I got some red diesel the snow cats, or groomers, run on and it starts out of an oil bottle immediately. Once running I can switch it back to the filter just fine.
You guys reckon its the filter (which is pretty new) or the "summer" diesel from the coast? It's only about -10 to -18 at the coldest.

I'd dump some kerosene in the tank if it's full of summer fuel, but I'd try a filter first.

Seriously the filter isn't even 5,000km old. This happened last year but at -25c
