Possibly blown motor?
« on: November 11, 2011, 02:25:11 pm »
so i ran over 1000 kms on the car in 24 hours, car worked flawlessly, last 30kms thou it felt alittle slower then normal. got to my parents and the turbo sounded a little weird. when I left it sounded like a supercharger  :-\ i got 4 kms to my place and it had a heavy knock to her  :'(

Checked the oil....NO OIL left in the motor...Checked the Oil yesterday evening before leaving the Oil was perfect.

what are the odds the motor is done?

If it's a rod bearing then by the time you hear knocking I think the crank is in need of a regrind. That said my sisters neon lost a rod bearing and after the knocking started it still got ran waaaay too much but I threw a new bearing in and it ran fine and didn't knock anymore, she sold the car and afaik it's still kickin'. The rod journal was oval and worn too.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Dump some oil in, fire it up, and see what happens...

if your VNT sounds like a supercharger, then your vanes are stuck closed, and your overboosting bad (lack of power)

only time ive ever heard a VNT sound like a G60 was when it was being oversped horribly.

i would say that its either very ill, or else about dead.. if your car drank 5 quarts of oil in 1000km, then it had a serious issue. thats almost as bad as my Audi 5kTD, it used a whole pan of oil in 300 miles.. and i believe they take 6 quarts?
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
