Quick weatherstrip alternative question
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:12:06 pm »
So would something like this work in our MK1's. I can't find anything to replace whats there but im wondering if this would work on the car side right on the pinch welded opening.

Just search this number 1120A391 on Mcmaster.com

The bulb would face outwards. but the more i look at it maybe the bulb should be a little bit bigger.

Mounted on the car side I'm not sure what part of the door would seal on it.......I'd really like to have new seals too.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

So where the factory edge grip seal is over the pinch weld in the door opening on the body of the car. The black stuff on each side of where the upper mounting point for the seatbelt. It would seal on the inner facing side of the door.

So your making weather strip that is right above the window where it seals on the body? just the short section on the horizontal part of the door?
